Forgetfulness with anxiety or is it the Setraline/Zoloft?
« on: March 21, 2013, 02:34:34 PM »
I've become quite forgetful the past few days - I stated on meds last week. Anyone had experience if this? Like walking in a room and forgetting what you've come in for.

Hi there, Catesykes.

I got the forgetfulness with zoloft. A lot of antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds can make you a little spacey when you first get started. You might also get sleepy or feel a little out of it. Most of the time this goes away when your body gets used to the meds.

Plus, if you're anxious, you may have so much on your mind that remembering little things doesn't feel as important to your brain and body, so you might forgot.

Call your doc and ask him/her or if you're worried. Chances are it's just you getting used to the medication. These types of drugs take a while to work with your body, usually at least a month to really have an effect.

When I am under stress, I will get up from my desk sometimes and forget what I got up for.

It could be either.  If it's a side effect it might decrease and vanish with time.
