I had some routine blood work yesterday for this point in pregnancy. I got called this morning by the receptionist to say that I am anemic and that in addition to an iron supplement they have ordered a prescription supplement for me. I am freaking out. I am thinking that the anemia + the night sweats + the fact they want me taking two iron supplements means something really, really bad and I am going to be diagnosed with cancer.

I am waiting for a call back to ask why two supplements, but I am freaking out. I am so scared that I am about to get hit with something scary.

Trying to not flip out, but all I can think is that I must be really sick for them to want me to take multiple supplements. I wish they would call.

A prescription supplement? It is probably a prescription vitamin since you are anemic.  Many dr's prescribe prenatal vitamins and since you are anemic they probably want to make sure you are getting more iron plus all the other supplements you need during pregnancy.  If it's just 2 iron supplements it's probably because there are different forms and some absorb some forms better than others.  It's not cancer!  If it was cancer they'd be doing a lot more than making you take 2 supplements!!

How many weeks are you?

I have pregnancy anaemia. I am on a prescription iron tablets. 3 per day.

Its common in pregnancy. I had this with my last preg too.

It's common to get anaemic when you're pregnant. The prescription supplement is probably stronger than the one you're on and they just want you to have more iron than you're currently taking. It won't be cancer or they'd be asking for more tests. You're fine.
