another crazy period
« on: March 21, 2013, 04:30:26 AM »
So started my period again, I'm on day 3, this one is 26 days from the start of my last so virtually a normal length cycle even though my last one lasted 11 days. Well this one is stupidly light, is really only light spotting, but I have more cramping than normal so it's quite painful even on day three. My night sweats are really bad the last few days too.

I'm really worried that there is something bad wrong, and that this light period means that I'm not reducing my endometrium and more evidence that i'm getting endometrial hyperplasia. I'm also worried that I have uterine cancer as my endometrium was too thick for them to see on the ultrasound. I just know there's something wrong, I'm just so scared.

If you had any issues, they would have showed up on the ultrasound.

Hi, I don't post much here but I saw this and just wanted to try and offer some peace of mind..... my mom has/had uterine cancer, there was no doubt about something going on when she had that first u/s and her gyn immediately ordered a D&C and biopsy telling her it could be "just a fibroid" but he was very concerned it was a malignancy, it was!  That said 1 yr later and she is currently cancer free, so even still it wasn't "the end" for her, been a long road but she is a trooper. So if your u/s is ok try and relax, in my experience if a Dr is even remotely concerned they will order additional testing.  I know that isn't easy to accept but thought I would give you at least a little story that might help....as for weird periods, I have them too lately and my sister who is 49 (not sure how old you are?) has had seriously wacked out periods for the last 4-5 yrs until they officially stopped. She would get them 2x a month, not for 3 months, spotting, heavy, light you name it! it was perimenopause so if you are of that age weird periods are fairly normal. I am 38 and even my gyn says "now is when the period and hormone craziness can begin" I have also had u/s and per my gyn there was nothing of concern so I have tried to let it go and relax, as much as my anxious mind allows  :winking0008:

Sass... didn't we all agree that you're in perimenopause?  Two of the things it comes with are irregular periods (heavy and light; late and early) and night sweats.  I'm 41 and have started getting the night sweats around my period, too. I haven't gotten any hot flashes at all and I don't feel hot at night... I just have night sweats at the beginning of my period.

yeah I could be in perimenopause, what worries me is I'm on day four and still getting cramping even though it's really light. I usually only get cramping on the first couple of days. I'm seeing my GP on Monday for something else so may mention it to him if I'm still cramping.

It's not just the fact it's light, it's really painful, I'm getting a lot of cramping, much more than usual and later into my period than usual. It's making me feel really rough. I'm worried that there's something wrong causing it. It also started really light for three days and today is getting heavier and more painful.

Sass, I'm 41 and in perimenopause.  I just went to my gynecologist to check out some super weird periods, bloating and a LOT of pain... he did every test he can do and then said, "You know what, kid?  You're getting older. And it's gonna get worse before it gets better."

lol

I know perimenopause can cause odd periods but this one is a doozy.

first three days - cramping and very light spotting
yesterday awful painful cramps had me doubled up and it got heavier
today cramps are a bit better but it's really heavy, like my usual second day only heavier.

I'm really scared right now that I have uterine cancer, my gyno said it wouldn't have shown up if I had it as my endometrium was so thick when I had the ultrasound, or that I might bleed to death if it gets any heavier. I'm also worried as it's day five and I'm scared it's not going to stop. My last period was 11 days long.

I'm a femal yet I don't know much on this subject but mabye it's a hormone imbalence? or premenopause depending on your age, this is what I can guess as a teen.

Sass:

Did you say you had an U/S? So if you did, it would have shown fibroids which is the most common issue for women in perimenopause. That would cause the heavier periods, longer, etc. But if that didn't show anything, then you said your endo lining was thick. So that would account for the heavier bleeding. I think I remember you saying you are in your 40's. I am 45. As a HA peep, anything that isn't normal makes me freak out as well. But, I know I am at that age. If I were to see a BIG change in things, then I would see my Dr. But it sounds like you have already done that.

If the periods are bothering you, you could always speak to your Dr. about having an Endo Ablation. That will usually slow or stop your periods. I have thought about it myself, but I am not at that point yet where my periods are so heavy I cannot leave the house. If that were to happen I would look into it.

All of your symptoms sound ALL hormonal. The only thing I would suggest(as I did before) is to make sure you are getting enough iron.

My gf has very similar issues.  They're caused by PCOS.

I had a pelvic ultrasound so that would have shown up on that, it was one of the things he put on there to check on.
