Blood work results
« on: March 20, 2013, 11:32:16 PM »
I had blood work done several weeks ago.  It was annual routine stuff.  CBC, cholesterol, etc.  They have never called me and I am too afraid to call them.  If something was wrong would they doctor have called?  I am paranoid I have a problem and the doctor forgot to read my results and now the problem has progressed.   :(

Of course they would have called.  There isn't anything to be worried about if they didn't.  Like I went in for a strep test the other week and they said they would call if there was an infection and they never called.  So that logic checks out doesnt it? If it would help you feel better, feel free to call them.

You know, have you ever considered that your results got lost?  This happened to me a few weeks ago.  Had my labs taken .... waited ... waited ... waited.  Called the doc and she said this particular lab takes a little longer than the hospital.  Waited .... waited .... then she called and said the lab "misplaced the paperwork and my blood".  Great.

Went in this past Monday ... walked in the door with 15 people waiting.  Told them they lost my stuff and I got right in.  I was called by the doc's nurse Tuesday.  Amazing.  Everything was fine, but I'm still waiting to hear back from the doc and who knows when that will be.

We all get worried over blood tests .... call your doc instead of waiting for them to call.  You will probably find out that either your tests were lost or they just plain forgot. If there was a serious issue, they would have called you ASAP.  Or, in my case, if they screwed up they would call you ASAP. LOL!

Called the dr and they have not received the results from the lab.  She is calling them to get them. And hopes to call me back today.  The order said "send copy to pcp". So I wonder if my pcp got the results, read them, and never said anything to me when I saw her because she assumed the dr that ordered them also received a copy and told me already.  I hope this is the case.  I assume she would have said something if there was a problem.
