Small Lump In Neck Panicking Really Bad Right Now

Well I'm a 20 year old college student and the past few months been fighting some pretty rough anxiety.  Once I stop worrying about something, another thing comes up.  Today my worries have been what I feel like is a lump that's a little smaller than a walnut on the left side of my neck.  I feel my right side and there is nothing there that resembles this.  I talked to my mom and she told me it's probably just a swollen lymph node and not to worry about it.  I'm pretty normal otherwise right now, have kind of a snotty nose though.  I was on allergy medicine last fall for my allergies.  Is it possible that allergies is just causing me to feel a lymph node on the left side of my neck.  My mom seems to think it is and I shouldn't worry, but every time something like this comes up, I already have it processed in my head that I have a horrible disease like cancer.  Every time I've went to the doctor for something like this he tells me all is fine and I shouldn't worry about anything. 

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I'm going to start on allergy medicine today just to see if it helps out any.

I also was just pressing on it even though I know I shouldn't have and made it hurt.  I took some ibuprofen and it seemed to help the pain get better a little, won't be pushing on it anymore like an idiot, but I can't help it, it still worries me.

I am fairly certain its a lymph node. Ignore it and don't worry about it. If its still there after a week get it checked out but I don't think you have anything to worry about
