Don't know if this is anxiety or what
« on: March 20, 2013, 03:37:00 PM »
So aside from the breathing problems I have been having lately(short of breath from drinking water, climbing stairs, walking)     Every time I lay down to go to sleep, when I am exhausted I feel my body vibrating or something. Then my whole body feels limp and really heavy. I feel like im going to float away and die. I see everything so dreamy and its hard to sleep because I get nervous im going to pass on. What has been making me nervous is that my cats are sleeping next to me now all of a sudden. They NEVER have before. I have woken up to them staring at me. I keep telling my wife I think this is a sign of them comforting me so I can pass on.
What's going on here...

This can totally be related to anxiety! I've had everthing you have described on and off for years now. When my anxiety is high, my breathing goes all funny too. I tend to become very aware of my breathing and feel out of breath easily too. The vibrating I feel when laying down is more of an internal buzzing feeling (almost like a cell phone vibrating) and will only go away when I practice my breathing exercises I learned in CBT. Actually, YouTube has some great videos too! Is the floating feeling like you feel your body is going to float away upwards? That's the feeling I get sometimes when my anxiety levels are higher than normal. It's such a strange feeling and the first time I experienced it (over 4 years ago), I had the same thoughts as you. Don't worry, it's not a sign you're going to pass on!

As for the cats issue I have found that pets in general can sense when we are anxious or not feeling well. When I'm in anxiety mode, my dogs will be extra clingy to me and act very strange. Of course, sometimes I also think it's that they sense something bad will happen to me. But, after years and years of the same thing, I have come to terms its anxiety related. They just pick up on our moods...like when we are excited and happy, they tend to be too. Same for when we are feeling nervous or scared. :)

I've been to therapy, done CBT and breathing exercises, but I feel run down almost all the time. My brain is shorting out most of the day(headaches, eyes get watery and fuzzy, brain feels like it is buzzing). It's as if my body can't handle any more stress but I keep pushing it. I feel like passing out just driving home from work from being so fatigued.
Thanks for the reassurance, I need it. I just don't know what to do.
