Imagination vs. morning anxiety
« on: March 20, 2013, 08:25:04 AM »
I always wake up at 5 or 6 (the cat wakes me up when he sleeps inside...) and I have difficulty sleeping again afterwards (I work at home so I can get up at 7:30-8). The worst thing is that during that time I'm in a bad mood and start having bad thoughts. So this morning I immediately tried relaxing all my body, part by part, like they do at yoga classes or in the autogenic training. It slowly worked. Then I decided to imagine myself on a raft, crossing a river by night, with the moon shining and trees all around... I evoked a nice scenario, the kind I see in my best dreams, and in this scene I also stopped by the river bank, visited a nice house. I imagined details. Well, it was awesome and it really relaxed me.  :happy0151:
After a while I fell asleep and had an actual dream, quite pleasant. When I got up I felt really rested, for a change.
I'd recommend anyone to try this, it's fun and really good for the mind!
