Anxiety and Phobia workbook anyone use this?
« on: March 19, 2013, 12:28:45 AM »
My therapist recommended I get this book. It does deal somewhat with hypochondria. But mainly OCD and excessive worry(Which is me). Anyone use it and have any luck helping you deal with your health anxiety when not seeing your therapist?

My therapist recommended it, too. I started reading it and it was helpful, though I was still in a state where it felt much better to google my symptoms and scare myself, so it didn't do THAT much good, but it may have if I had been in a better state.

For sure buy it and read it. It's not a cure-all for your anxiety problems, but it's informative and will help explain what anxiety is and hopefully help you work through WHY you feel the way you do.

The best "cure" for anxiety of course is curbing the negative reinforcement behaviors, more than anything else.

Thank you for the feedback. I am going to try it and yes, it was inexpensive. So far, I am really liking my new therapist. But like with anyone who has HA, you have to believe what he is saying, and actually DO what he says. It is hard to step out of the box after being in that fight of flight mode for so long. And even then I question if that is really what I am doing. Yep, HA kicking in even with therapist.

Oh yeah, I did this. I was an anxious mess DESPITE therapy for the first five or six months. It takes a long time, but it DOES work.
