Fear of impending Doom....Am I nuts?
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:09:14 PM »
My name is Nicole and I am a 20 year old college student. Recently I just started getting panic attacks in October due to Hypochondria and they are growing progressively worse to the point where they happen everyday. I know I must sound crazy, but lately I have this feeling of impending doom, like I am going to die soon by some unknown way. Is this part of an anxiety condition or am I just nuts? I'm really scared and need help...Lately I've been getting dizzy everyday all day and I pains everywhere in my body; I get chest pains, trouble breathing, neck tightness, headaches and especially this weird feeling of weakness in my left arm and leg...I think it's a blood clot. But moreso I want to know about this impending doom feeling, because it's making me crazy. I literally feel like anytime now I am just counting down the minutes and I'm gonna go in some way. I hate living life like this. Does anyone know what I could do? Please...help....

Hey nicole.. Some of those symptoms you have described are part of anxiety and i am sure you havent got a blood clot but take a visit to your doctor more for peace of mind than anyfin else! The impending doom i get that aswell like my life an the world is over i think people on here wil back me up when i say the symtoms linked to anxiety stress etc is a long list of irrational thinking confusion brain fog aches pains sweats chest pounding etc! You have got to be able to control all of that if you feelmit coming on i suggest breathing techniques they help me alot. The brain is a very powerful tool and can convince us of anythingmeven if sometimes infact most of the time its not true.

Learn to relax an go see your doc i am sure you wil be fine

Living has always been risky business but the onslaught of information now can be overwhelming. First we are presented all the illnesses that can do us in, then we see what goes on in the world as never before. Who is Boss, us or the promoters or images? It can drive us nuts.

My solution is CBT which includes daily meditation, daily exercise, connecting with nature and tuning out as best I can. We must protect our brain so it belongs to us and is not there to be absorbed by others. This is not necessarily quick or easy. It takes determination, discipline, daily effort, but can be done.
