Hello,

Well, you may be looking at a bit of cause-and-effect. You said that you had a few beers (how many would that be? For some folks with anxiety, one beer is too much because it has an immediate effect on the brain chemistry). Are you taking meds for anxiety? If so, the combination with alcohol may have triggered the anxiety. Coupled with bad sleep, anxiety brain's favourite playground, then you have a potential combination for an onslaught of anxiety. You could be fine on Saturday and then with the beers and the bad sleep, be ugly on Sunday.

My advice to you (even though you really did not ask for my 2 cents worth :) would be to ask yourself the following: if alcohol affects your sleep and the two together make a trigger for anxiety, which would you rather have: no alcohol and good sleep and no anxiety or alcohol and bad sleep and anxiety . . . .I won't lie to you, perhaps alcohol did not trigger your anxiety, but it's worth considering . . . .I know that I can drink without triggering anxiety, but I have not done so in over 25 years because I am not sure that at any given point, alcohol might be a triggering effect to take me out of a state of brain chemistry balance . . . . so, I just don't risk it . . . but like all journeys with anxiety, the individual has to make the decision . . . perhaps being a mess on Sunday can be framed as a good thing . . . it might be a wake up call for you to consider the role that you want alcohol to play in your journey . . . .I think that you will be fine . . . just get back to having the good weeks :)  Take care, KC
