tapering off klonopin, new here
« on: March 17, 2013, 03:19:14 PM »
I am new to this site.  I have always struggled with anxiety but recently I have started to taper off 1mg of Xanax.  I am down to .125mg as of today and have switched my Xanax to klonopin.  I am having really bad anxiety and OCD thoughts.  If anyone here has come off of Xanax or Klonopin or anything similar and have any advice or success stories it would be great to hear from you, or even if you can relate!  Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Good to have you as a member. Here you are with like minded people. People who understand. As we all suffer from something or other. So feel free to ask any questions. Our members are always willing to help others out. Good chatroom too. 3 posts to enter the room.

Find the correct section of the forum that suits your condition and create a new topic on it. This is just a welcome section. Never really get the same amount of help in this section as you would on the other sections of the forums. So whatever one suits the questions you are asking. Get much better answers.

All users of the chatroom must be 18 years old or over. The room is off limits to anybody under the age of 18.

Hey Wilson. I on on Xanax only right now. It's all that helps... :fragend005: I have been on Klonopin too. I am no expert but I think once you use the Klonopin for a while you can go back to Xanax. It's the whole tolerance thing... I haven't had it effect me yet, I am on 1mg of Xanax 3 times a day. It doesn't make me tired... Just makes me feel mellow to where I am not going into panic attacks all day. Feel free to throw me a PM or whatnot. I am new here too.  :action-smiley-069:

I have found that ativan has helped me.  I just wonder how long I can use Ativan to help with my anxiety issues.

Hi I am new to this forum is well I stumbled across it with a question about anxiety over an MRI. I have not been able to post my question as of yet but I can tell you that I have tapered off of Xanax and now am on Klonopin. Don't try to do it so quickly you will have what I call short outs in your brain. I'm going to assume tapering from Klonopin will be the same Xanax but my first question would be if you are suffering with anxiety disorder why would you want to go off of everything? My best suggestion would be when you taper cut it by one quarter for seven days each... When you get to that last quarter... Take 1/8 for 3 days. That's how I did it with Xanax and it worked. Good luck to you! CFB ::)

Thank you all so much for your replies!  :action-smiley-065:
I feel so stupid because I was waiting for an email telling me my account was approved or something.....like I did on another forum and I never heard anything so just put this aside for the time being, and then decided to see what was going on with it tonight.
I was first taking Xanax and wanted to get off benzo's because I was started to get forget full on them and they were starting to make me really tired, I am on Celexa now and hoping this can help with my anxiety instead.
Connie0906, what are the short outs in your brain like?  I feel like this withdraw has been causing some bad anxiety and other things!  I am still tapering!  But hopefully will be done in a few weeks, I think the celexa is helping override the rebound anxiety from tapering but it still really hard.
