Nostril hurts, bad!
« on: March 17, 2013, 04:28:55 AM »
It hurts pretty bad in my right nostril. When I inhale it feels dry and painful. Not agonizing, but bad enough that it's bugging me.

Is this just a dry nose? Or am I going to die of MRSA (I'm kidding...sort of.)?

I also put my finger in my right nostril and there is a bit of a bump in the nose. Like right next to the fleshy nose part, it feels like a lump inside the skin but not hot or oozing or any pus. The left side doesn't have that bump.

Is this staph? MRSA? Do I need to rush to the doc?

Why do you think you have a staph infection? I don't even know if what you're describing is that your nostril hurts because of some congestion-related irritation or because maybe you have a pimple in there or something.

Taking your fears immediately to the worst case scenario (MRSA? Really?) will not help you learn to control your anxiety.

Sounds like a pimple.  When you get those in your nostril, they hurt like CRAZY.  Unfortunately nothing to do but tough it out.  It should resolve itself.

I agree with Mollyfin, it's a pimple.

Rub a little Neosporin on it and it will feel better. I get those every so often and boy do they hurt!

Anxiety makes our minds always think the worst case scenario. But the fact is a bump and nose pain would not signal any infection let alone MRSA. I get pain there all the time and I suffer from dry sinuses.
