WHY would you touch a dead bird? Considering all of your fears around rabies and such it seems crazy to go out of your way to touch a dead animal. If you are going to touch a dead animal to move it or bury it, it would seem like a good idea to wear gloves.

^Agreed! I have never just went out and touched a dead animal. Of course they can transmit diseases. Don't do that again. I am sure you are fine but, come on!

I didn't touch it for the heck of it, I touched it to see if it was alive and if it was I would of helped but it was dead I washed my hand and bike handles with outside water and then washed my hand with water and soap when I got inside, i took an ibprofen for the headache (probabaly from having a cold or sleepy) and before my anxiety could put me in a downwards spiral I spent time with my dad and his girlfriend like talking to them about pets that I want since I don't have any pets... nay I've held and touched birds before (but the differance is this one's dead  :laugh3:).

Well, as long as you washed your hands, you are fine. Next time find a stick or something. Don't touch any dead animal with your hands. I carry a box of gloves in my car for when I see dead animals on the road that are movable. I put on the gloves, move the animal to the side of the road and then take off the gloves and put them in a grocery bag (I keep them in my car as well) and toss it asap. And I use sanitizer until I can get to a sink. I worked as a vet assistant and I learned proper procedures on handling deceased pets.
