I was wondering if there are any fellow biology devotees here....I am practically dying to discuss one of my favorite interests with someone else who has a likewise passion for it!

I have a degree in Microbio but I've mainly done cell bio stuff and worked in a cancer research lab. What did you study ?

I am actually currently engaged in undergraduate studies, I am a freshman at a local community college.  I'm not currently majoring in Biology, I am a psychology major on the contrary, but I think I would like to instead transition to a biology major sometime before next semester starts for me.

I mainly just have an enormous interest in Biology...I think it is just such a fascinating science.  I love all aspects of it, but especially neuroscience and genetics, as well as bioethics and biotechnology too.  I want to become a biology professor after schooling and such.

What draws you to the field?  Are you a biologist?

Well first I majored in microbiology with the hopes of becoming a doctor. After deciding I don't want to waste 10 years of my life in rigorous study I decided to go the research route. After I graduated I got a job from my childhood oncologist studying Ewings Sarcoma which is a similar cancer to what I had rhabdomyosarcoma. Other than cancer research I am really interested in primate evolution to humans. Just the thought nature can take mammals from swinging from trees to modern humans just blows my mind.

Besides biology I am also fascinated with computers. So I have decided to get my masters in Bioinformatics and hopefully become a software engineer to allow us to be able to read and interpret vast amounts of biological data using computers.

That sounds amazing!  What exactly does the field of Bioinformatics exactly consist of, anyway?

I agree, the human journey enthralls and captivates me as well, a journey of millions of years, from simple primates swinging amongst trees to becoming possibly the most intelligent species in universal existence, it is truly possible the greatest story ever....

I love Biology. I just got my BS in Biology and am currently trying to get into graduate school for a PhD. I'm on waiting lists (which doesn't help my anxiety any) and should know next week if I'm accepted to any schools or not. My main interest is molecular biology and genetics. If I don't get into graduate school I'll be applying for jobs, hopefully as a research assistant :)

I'm currently in college and came in as a bio major cause my parents told me to become a dr. After 2 years I realized I kinda like it but its not for me. I will be graduating next spring with a double major in applied math and sociology and a minor in biology. Ever since my first panic attack a few months ago I got really interested in neuroscience because I really want to understand what's going on in my brain that's creating this sensitivities to panic and anxiety.
