Question about Lexapro
« on: March 16, 2013, 12:05:19 PM »
Hi,

I was just prescribed Lexapro and I started taking it four days ago. I'm on 10mg for two weeks, then 20mg after that. Initially, my side effects have just been nausea and sleepiness. When I woke up today, however, I realized that I'm shaky. It's not severe. Just enough to be noticeable by me and annoying. It almost feels internal? I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. I would call my psychiatrist, but I don't want to bother him on a weekend if I can help it.

Thank you!

Hi I have been on Lexapro for several years my experience with side effects didn't include nausea but yes sleepiness and a little shaking. I still get the shakiness occaisonally but I believe it is more to do with stress. See how you feel in a couple of days and then speak to your doctor.

I'm on 10mg for two weeks, then 20mg after that.

Were you given a reason for going straight to 20mg? While some do need more, 10mg is the usual therapeutic dose.

Shaking or tremor is a fairly frequent initial side-effect. It should begin to diminish after a week or two.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
