Really bad brain tumor fears. :/
« on: March 16, 2013, 03:53:41 AM »
Well, for a couple of months now I have noticed that my vision has been getting pretty bad. Like, seeing a lot of glare, halos around lights, random small flashes, and sometimes dark spots that look a burn in of a camera flash that disappeared after a few seconds but flares up after I blink..m anyways, I have gotten my eyes checked many times and all of those times I have been told that my eyes are perfectly fine.... Well then, what could be causing those problems I wondered... till just a few weeks ago I get this random kind of pain on either the left or right side of my head. This happens like twice a week when I feel this sharp kind of pain. It doesn't hurt, it's more of an annoyance and it really scares me because I may have a brain tumor. That would explain the changes I have been noticing with my vision. Or I dunno if I get those sharp pains because I hardly ever sit with my back straight and so I get pains in the back of my neck around my shoulder. When I put my hand over the back of my neck and add pressure I can feel the sharp pain go slightly away till I take my hand off. :/ So yeah, right now I felt this pain again so I panicked a lot and decided to write this since it calms me down a bit. Sorry if I made typos. Kinda typing fast here.  :traurig001:

I have known a number of people with benign and malignant brain tumors and all of their main
symptom was increasingly bad headaches. I would make an appointment with an
Opthamologist,

my dad and sister had brain tumors.   you are describing nothing that happened to them.   as marc said, some people with tumors have headaches.  my dad and sister didn't.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Come sit by me at the brain tumor worry table.  I'm having weird vision problems, too.  I think we both need to see an eye doctor, because odds are it's an eye thing, probably simple as eyestrain or needing glasses/a new prescription, or possibly a medication side effect (at least in my case).  And then we need to figure out how to deal with our obsessive thoughts.

We might have brain tumors, but we probably don't.

Well, I haven't felt these pains since I posted last time.
Though today I was sitting in my desk, got up real quick because someone knocked on my door, went downstairs, and in my vision I could see these bright small orbs floating alone my vision. These were not floaters, but more like something I would see outside on the blue sky, but these were a bit more bigger and moving slightly more slower. I did only notice them where the light from outside hit inside my house... So I dunno if it could be the white blood cells that I was seeing.... But still, these were bigger... Last time I got my eyes checked about 4 weeks ago the doctor said everything was just fine. So it might be something else inside my head that might be wrong. Having a brain tumor is one of my greatest fears.

Hey, how are you now?

I'm pretty sure these are not symptoms of a brain tumor at all. It should be reassuring you see "things" in certain circumstances (e.g. looking at the sky) and especially if they do change. I'm sure a b.t. would give you much more significant problems.
And besides, I'm also sure an eye doctor can tell if a visual disturbance indicates something serious! :)

you are not describing a brain tumor.

brain tumors being your BIGGEST fear means nothing with regard to you ever getting one.

Six pack, what were the symptoms that your family had when they had the brain tumors?  Maybe it will give us some perspective on what serious symptoms are and what symptoms aren't so serious.
