can YOU please calm me down:)?
« on: March 15, 2013, 01:38:19 PM »
this lymphoma scare is taking over my life, I am officially obsessed!!!   Iīve been pressing my hands on my stomach 24/7, I feel a "lump" in my lower left abdomen.  Its not a lump actually...its a long cylindershaped structure....I doesnīt hurt at all and I have to press hard to feel it and I can move it from side to side...its about 10 cm long and 2 cm wide.     At first I thought it was coloncancer and I got a colonoscopy.   It didnīt show anything abnormal.  Now Iīm convinced its a swollen lymph node and that Iīve got lymphoma!   My GP sais its just my colon im feeling since im skinny.  But what worries my is that I can only feel it in my left side....not the right!  But looking at pictures of the colon calms me a bit since it doesnt look the same both sides (se pictures, I can feel the lump where the black mark is)      .....could it be my colon?  can you feel yours and is it the same on both sides?  A lyph node wouldnt have that shape well, 2x10 cm?     help a crazy woman out;)

Yes the stomach and bowel structure varies greatly from left and right sides, as does the abdomen. If your GP says you are feeling your colon then I bet that is it. There are a lot more organs and structures on the right side vs. the left thus the difference you are feeling. Add that to the fact that you really have to search I doubt it is a lymph node at all especially given that size.

Stop self-checking! Get some fresh air, read, take a bath, redirect your attention!

I had the same scare a few years ago and my Dr said the same thing to me. Makes sense, especially if there is stool in your colon. Don't stress, your colonoscopy was fine.

It doesn't sound like a lymph node, your doctor says it's your colon and he knows what he is talking about. You had a colonoscopy and all was clear so relax you're ok :)

Your doctor went to school for this, and does this for a living.  The guy knows a lymph node from a colon.  Chill :)  You're fine :)

Currently going through a stupid lymphoma period myself, so I know what it feels like. The good thing about lymphoma (there are good things?) is that it's apparently rarer to present itself in the abdomen like that. I bet your GP is on top of the ball. :)
