you have got to be kidding me.....
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:46:45 PM »
After so much support from here I was really trying hard today to ignore my chest pain and shortness of breath and left arm pain and other heart attack symptoms. Realizing I HAVE been checked out as much as I can! Then of course the radio decided it was the perfect day to play the two songs all about heart attacks over and over. I don't know if anyone has heard them but they contain the words giving me a heart attack and something else about heart attacks! Ugh not to mention the chef on the one of my favorite shows (chopped) spoke numerous times about his heart attack and the it seems like every commercial was about heart attack prevention or warning signs of them. Oh my goodness! I could not catch a break today! Does anyone else feel like there are "signs" everywhere that ruin what could be a good HA day?

Funny.  :laugh3: Believe me, the radio station programmer isn't trying to give you signs. I remember going to the ER with an episode of rectal bleeding that I believed was a sign of colon cancer. After I was told it was a bleeding hemorrhoid--a DX I still have trouble accepting--I went home and decided to relax with a Netflix movie. I had started "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" the night before and decided to finish it.

For those of you who haven't seen the film, the patriarch of the family is found to be....dying, very painfully, of colon cancer.

Yeah. Just what I needed.

Don't worry about it. If you turn on the TV, radio, or open a Web site, you're bound to come across something about heart disease or attacks. It's hardly an uncommon topic of discussion. If you feared some hyper-rare disease that's hardly ever uttered and suddenly heard about it multiple times in a day, then yes--perhaps the universe might be trying to tell you something.  :winking0008:

Oh yeah. My latest has been lymphoma. I got lymphoma pts two days in a row (which is extremely rare in my unit) and I went on a mini-vacation and the first thing I saw when I got off the plane and stepped into the airport was an MD Anderson Lymphoma ad. That's just how it works

It is crazy that the world - when we are already anxious - continues to taunt us with "signs" everywhere of our current stressors!  Like that sign on the back of the bus telling me to donate to breast cancer because 1 in 4 women will get it?  Well I am a woman, and i have three friends that DON'T have it - so it must be me that has it (man my breasts hurt all of a sudden - is that a lump I never noticed before?)  Or the commercial telling me I am at risk of all sorts of things because I am over 30...  And that damn old guy with his sign telling me specifically that "the end is near" and basically to get my affects in order.

I guess we can see signs everywhere when our brains are looking to see them.

I read a book recently, and less that three lines talked about the heroines Aunt having died from a rare form of Bone Cancer and BAM next thing you know my bones hurt and I think I have bone cancer....

Anxiety sucks.  When the brain is already hyper-focused - it is amazing what we can conger up from the random pieces of everyday life.

There's a word for that, but I can't think of it.  Happens to me ALL THE TIME.  Really aggravating for someone as superstitious as I am.

When I was trying to get pregnant and not having any luck, I saw pregnant women everywhere i turned. On tv, on the street, etc.

When I was wanting a particular car but having trouble funding it, I saw that dang car everywhere I turned.

When I was worried about ca I heard about it everywhere.

My fear now is heart fears and I hear about it all the time.

Whatever you are most focused on is what your brain will guide you toward.

I simply mute or turn the channel at the FIRST mention of anything heart related right now.

That happens to me too!  I had (and still have) an everlasting fear of leukemia and lymphoma.  And last week I was sitting down at work for my break and I was watching the television and suddenly a leukemia and lymphoma commercial came on about cures and treatment.  I was like "Are you serious!?"

It seems to me that every time I think something is wrong with me, then I hear about it more and more on the television, radio, or from people around me.

I am so glad I am not the only one. After my two echos, two ekgs and blood work did NOTHING to ease my mind that my heart was fine my mother tried just showing me all the things I did on a daily basis without my heart giving out her main point was giving birth. This was kind of a relief UNTIL the bayer commercial with the woman who appears young and tells us she had a heart attack right after giving birth. I think I sat for about twenty minutes just wondering how old I thought that woman could possibly be. I found myself thinking about all her possible risk factors. My husband looked at me as I ran down my list like I was a loon! I then extremely proud because I stopped and thought well she said she never had any problems so she has not had my testing, plus Bayer had to seek out this story. They don't have a just for the heck of it happy commercial about all the women who have babies and then don't need bayer. I say we get some HA commercials out there! haha

I have a sister who had lymphoma stage 4 and given a 10 percent chance of living. That was in 2000. She is doing well and the mother of a young daughter (9 adopted --due to the chemo and radiation as she had a bone marrow transplant in Aug 2001).
Think positive about how you and all that is about your life. Law of Attraction.
