Nodular melanoma
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:24:15 PM »
So I found this pink spot on my shoulder that I've never noticed until 2 weeks ago.  I do one-month skin checks.  It's tiny (around 2 mm), completely round, raised, a little hard and pink.  It's white when I don't mess with it.  Thinking it was a pimple, I first scratched it, but it didn't come off.  It just scratched the top.  I tried scratching it again.  I can put an antibiotic ointment on the top where I scratched it and the top heals when I pick it, but the bump is still there.  I'm so scared of nodular melanoma!!  I have a dermatologist appointment on Monday, for something different, but in the meantime, I'm freaking out.  I've stopped picking it so she can see what it looks like.  I wish I could stop worrying over everything melanoma related!!!!

I am having a bit of this same panic. I also find that right before I go to the derm my skin HA goes into overdrive as I fear that she will find something wrong. The good news is that if it is something and that is a BIG IF it is recent and you are getting it checked out. I have very fair skin and get lots of rashes, irritations so I have the same fears.

Hang in there and please keep us posted after your appointment.

I went this morning and she said she didn't think it was anything to worry about.  She took measurements on it and kept it on file.  She's going to check for changes when I go in for my full body check in 2 months.  I was also worried about something on my face and again she didn't think it was worth worrying about.  I hope I can put this out of my mind now!  Thank you, by the way, SighNoMore for your encouraging words!
