please help!!!!
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:21:42 AM »
UGH once again back to my heart. I convinced myself last week that two clear echos, two clear ekgs, and countless clear blood work along with the cardiologists advice that I relax and take the kolonopin he gave me, was proof that my chest pain, left arm pain, dizziness and shortness of breath (which I have had for about 3 or 4 years off and on, the past 2 on) were anxiety at its worst. Now as I near my sixth month of pregnancy I feel like this is it. The left arm pain is constant. My cardio doesnt think I need anymore testing as I am 24 years old and just went through echo, ekg and blood work 6 or 7 months ago. My husband is also against me getting any further testing right now because he does not want anything invasive when he "knows" its my anxiety. I am just terrified of dropping dead of a heart attack. I just don't see how this could be happening non stop for months and not have killed me already. I have heard of warning signs of a heart problem but I remember having chest pain right after my daughter was born and sleeping at my moms just in case. She is now almost 5. 5 years of warning and lets say 1 year of constant left arm pain has to be a record right. No one in my family takes me seriously anymore. My mothers new thing is telling me to go right to the ER. Then I freak out because I assume she thinks its something but she says no she knows its nothing but is so tired of hearing it. I am terrified. Please advice. Should I get a new cardio? Should I get more testing? Can this really NOT be my heart with these constant symptoms?

If your Doctor, husband, mother, several ekg tests, blood work, and cardio tests ALL say you are healthy-

Then you are healthy. It's just the Anxiety that is making you overreact (especially during pregnancy when hormones make you really emotional).
Just try to keep your mind off of it. The more you pay it attention, the worse you will feel.

Thank you! I keep trying to tell myself that. I'm just worried I didn't get enough testing, like a stress test or one of those monitors. I mean this left arm pain is serious and when I told him he said oh its unrelated. But left arm pain is one of the signs of a heart problem and mine is constant and all over my arm from my shoulder to my finger tips.

I understand.

I've had those pains too, and they are related to stress and anxiety. Just relax.

I'm sure if there was even the slightest possibility there was something wrong with you they would tell you (especially since you are pregnant).
Try doing something that takes up your time and when you start feeling the arm pain try moving it around, massaging it, or getting up and doing something to keep your mind off of it.

I know the pain seems too real to not be serious- but believe me, over thinking it isn't going to help anyone.

Believe me, if your arm pain was heart attack related it wouldn't drag out for years.  You would have had a heart attack a long time ago. Cardiologists don't just dismiss a persons symptoms if they think there is even the slightest chance there is a heart problem. I'm sure you do have arm pain, but when you focus on it, it makes it worse. I know from personal experience that our anxious minds are able to create and intensify physical symptoms. I'm sure your family is frustrated because they can't convince you that you are fine. You are young. You've been tested more than once. You need to put this heart stuff to rest.

You need help NOW. But it needs to be mental health help. You have NO heart problems. The echo is the BEST and most accurate heart test. If you had ANY problem, the 1st one would have showed it much less the second and blood work and ekg! You are affecting your unborn baby with all this stress and your other child has to be witnessing it. You need to get to therapy NOW. Hugs to you!

Honey, You really need to go get tested for GERD. I suffered for MONTHS and MONTHS, every single day with classic heart attack symptoms. I found out i have GERD, started the GERD diet and am so much better. It mimics heart attacks so close it is scary but YOUR heart is FINE and has been throughly tested.
OR just try eating to treat GERD for 3-5 days and if it is it, you will feel better. It won't cure it but it does lessen it. You can google the GERD diet or acidic foods (avoid all acidic foods/drinks) and do not lay down for at least 30 min after eating, prop the head of your bed up 6 inches.
I had a VERY hard time believing acid reflux and heartburn and gas could make me 100% think i was having a heart attack, but guess what? It does!

It is scary and miserable but it's not dangerous! I've told you before, the esphogus shares the same nerve paths as the heart. That is why GI issues can make you have those pains.

When my dad's aortic valve was failing, they monitored it with the echo. It is a good and accurate test. Then he had the his aortic valve replaced and his heart is great.
