Just started celexa, questions for anyone taking it...
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:49:19 PM »
I'm on my first week of celexa, started at .5mg for 5 days and now I upped my dose to 10mg for 5 days and I'm in day 2 of the 10mg and feeling a bit anxious and agitated... I feel calm but I feel like I don't know what to do with myself... It's a strange feeling. I dunno, do you think this will wear off? I've got to up my dose again in 5 days to 15mg and kind of nervous. Any advice?

Unfortunately, these are typical initial side-effects of most antidepressants caused by the extra serotonin. It should begin to diminish as your brain adjusts and begins to create the physical changes that produce the therapeutic response. Small doses of one of the benzodiazepines would help ease you through the worst of it so ask your doctor for a prescription if things get too difficult. However, not all doctors will prescribe them.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
