Tricep twitch?
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:34:54 PM »
Has anyone had this?  Over the past few days I get an intermittent trembly muscle twitch in my right tricep.  I'm not weaker in that arm and I haven't done anything to hurt it or pinch a nerve - could that be anxiety?

I've had things like that in a leg or arm... usually I realize later that I used that arm or leg for something strenuous recently. (e.g. the last time it happened to me, I realized I'd tried to bring in all the groceries with my left arm.)

I've had it happen maybe 5 times over about 20+ years and so far I'm okay.

I have that problem throughout my entire body... Literally.
I'm starting to believe mine in particular is caused from my poor diet, and lack of being able to eat real food. (Just had throat surgery, so I really haven't been able to eat anything but Italian ice for the past week). That along with lack of sleep. It's been freaking me out pretty badly though...

I have this happen a lot! Last week my right bicep was twitching bad all day long, and then yesterday my left bicep was twitching pretty bad and today it's not. I just recently started exercising again, and have been hitting it pretty hard so I am pretty sure that is what is causing it. I used to twitch a lot back in the days when I was into bodybuilding. When my anxiety is high, or if I am really tired my eyelids will twitch and my PVCs will kick in high gear. Like Slangevar said I have also had this for over 20 years, and sometimes pretty excessively, and I am still OK. I do not Google symptoms anymore but when I used to what I found is they are benign muscle fasciculation, and are harmless in the absence of other more serious neurological symptoms. If you stop thinking about them they will more than likely go away.

if a muscle has a nerve attached to it, and a tricep certainly does, then it has the potential to twitch, tremble, buzz......

name any muscle and it can twitch....  sometimes it is anxiety doing that, sometimes it is just a nerve getting nervy....   twitching, in and of itself, doesn't equal some dire thing.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.
