Anxiety About Traveling
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:08:48 PM »
Hey guys.

So recently, I got on vacation for spring break. Yay! I thought i was just gonna stay home & go with friends. But my cousin wants too do something else.

She texted me last night saying that her & my family are gonna road trip to Dallas. Considering I live in Texas, its close by & shouldn't take that long.

But I can't help but feel anxious. I can't say no to them because of my anxiety. I do & don't wanna go.

I'm worried we'll get in a car accident, ill get food poisoning, we'll stay in Dallas too long, etc. I'm just really freaking out. Someone please help?!

This is what anxiety does to you and your mind! It makes you worry about everything and come up with irrational thoughts. Have you ever thought it could be the best road trip ever? You wil bump into loads of new people make friends see lots of new places etc you just dont no what fun your going to have! Put it this way i am writing this thinking i would love to do that! Go on this trip and enjoy!

I have a fear of sleeping anywhere but home. It hinders my travelling, even to friends houses. When I am not at home I cannot sleep. I get up and wonder which is strange cause I'm afraid of the dark. The anxiety makes me restless. I don't really know what about I causes the anxiety but I think I understand a little of how you feel. When I get these feelings, it helps me to write them down. I then think about each feeling and try rationalise whether or not the feelings are in my gut or in my head and whether or not they are completely logical. Try writing down your worries, it can help to process all of your thoughts.

I know exactly how you feel. In the summer time my friends and family go up to our cabin , in the middle of nowhere and I'm always afraid something might happen to me while up there with no close hospitals. try not to think about it to much and things will be ok. The more you worry and think about things the worse you'll feel, at least that's how I am.
