How to cope with Anxiety?

Hi,
 I'm new to this website and I figured it was about time to ask for help or advice. I've had problems with anxiety since I was 17, I'm 21 now. I've had good times and bad. I've noticed that when I first got really anxious back when I was 17 was because, I had a boyfriend at the time who was very clingy. He hardly ever gave me space so it lead me feeling so anxious that I got sick with an ulcer and we eventually broke up.

A lot has changed since then but that's when I think a started getting anxiety. Basically now I get anxious whenever I have to go anywhere or if I'm asked to go anywhere. I get panicked and worried and start to think of everything bad that could happen instead of the fun. I hate getting this way because it prevents me from doing anything I want to do, or all the things I use to do. I'm sure if hurt my friends when I tell them I can't go out with them because of my anxiety. It's really just but fair.

I'm getting tired of living this way. I've even prayed to God and asked for him to make me stronger so I could deal with this. Because it's not only emotionally challenging but physical as well. I get sick and feel hopeless.

I don't take pills because I'm worried of side effects and I don't see a therapist. I guess I just want to know how anyone deals with their anxiety. What helps? What makes it worse? I need to learn how to over come my anxiety so I can live a happier life.

Glad you found us. I know you will find plenty of information and support here.
Lots of people going through similar things here.

There is plenty to do around the forum as well as a great chat room (once you have 3 posts, and is for 18's and over only)
