what type of facewash works for you?
« on: March 12, 2013, 11:27:33 PM »
I'm having anxiety over having worse acne from facewash I've tried Clean&Clear Continuous control Acne clenser, Clean&Clear Morning burst facial scrub, and St. Ives Fresh skin Apricot scrub... still have acne. Does anyoneone know of a face wask that won't give your face sting or burning feeling and will get rid of acne? or at least reduce it?

Have you tried the pre-moistened facial cleansing cloths? I use those and love them. I have to say, I don't have acne, but I really like them. There are tons of brands out there and many are formulated for sensitive skin. I have used the 'Simple' brand and really liked that and it seemed to be really gentle.
As long as you don't wear a lot of heavy foundation, these work great.

ceh1354 thank you I don't wear make up so that's not an issue but just finding the product, budget, and how many times to wash my face with it are a big issue also which ones to mix/ not mix  :happy0151:

Well, I hope it works out for you! They aren't too awfully pricey. I think for 30 it's about 5.00. You use each one once, then toss. There are many different brands out there, even stores have their own brands, too.

Definitely stay away from the St Ives scrub.  Scrubbing encourages your oil glands to make more oil and that will not help the acne.  I'd go for something gentle like Cetaphil and maybe a benzoyl peroxide cream.  Honestly, though, I think acne products with salicylic acid are better.

Not really sure why this is in the hypochondriac board, but ... I used to get a lot of acne breakouts, too, but I found that improving my diet (cutting out wheat/dairy/sugar) helped, and so did moisturizing the HELL out of my skin. That seems counter-intuitive, I know, but I found that using a gentle face wash + a good slather of moisturizing in the morning, PLUS a good quality repair oil at night REALLY helped.

I agree with whoever said to stay away from the St. Ives—that stuff will strip your skin right off.

Try Cerave. They're a bit expensive, but well worth it. I suffer from adult acne as well as either super oily skin, or extremely dry skin depending on the time f year, and their moisturizer is just amazing!

vardnas I put it in the Hypochondria board because I have anxiety over my acne getting worse and I heard that acne also ties in to health. DarnedSphynx I'll look for that next time! how much does one cost (well about how much) ?

I use cetaphil. I have uneven skin tone and it totally helps. Cetaphil and a Jergen's daily moisture regimen really makes the skin radiate and gets rid of pimples. Also try drinking water too and cutting out of sugar and salty foods.
