I'm doing it again - ectopic pregnancy...
« on: March 12, 2013, 07:03:59 PM »
I was fearful of pregnancy after having some cramping, so I took a test: negative. Actually, I took a few. All negative.

I got my period.

Then the cramping continued, so I took more tests: negative.

The cramping continued so I googled.  :mad0228:

Came up with ectopic pregnancy that causes cramping, in addition to other symptoms (shoulder pain, body aches, nausea) so of course now I'm experiencing all of these.

So I took another test, negative.

Went to the doctor for an ultrasound: nothing.

But there is still that tiny part of me saying.... it could be too early to show on tests. It could be too early to show on an ultrasound. My doctor saw no reason for a blood test, but should I still go get one done?

This is a MESS!

I have had an ectopic and trust me you know. Also the test typically shows positive then negative. The shoulder pain is excruciating and that is putting it mildly.
The u/s would have shown something if it was ectopic.

So it would have been caught on one of the many pregnancy tests I took? I didn't know you could really see them on ultrasounds.... but I suppose there would still be something in the tubes.

I keep thinking I have ovarian pain or low pelvic pain and it just won't go away.

Are you bleeding? Have you had a positive test at all? Just because you have had cramps initially doesn't mean ectopic. Also if for some reason you did have an ectopic pregnancy you get it taken care of and they do all they can to preserve your tubes and ovaries. I had one as I said and I went on to have several children.

If you had a blood test would you believe it or think that it wasn't done right to pick up you hCG levels?

And in that thread she was fine! In those that weren't they were detected via u/s.

Not bleeding... no positive tests.... I've taken several in the past few days.

And if I had a blood test and it was negative... I'd probably think it was wrong. I don't believe over 5 negative home tests.

So can you believe that anxiety is causing this? The pain can be directly from thinking you have an ectopic. It sounds crazy, and even far fetched, but my physical symtoms are over the top when I am anxious.

How can you combat the anxiety?
