Blood clot fear is returning...
« on: March 12, 2013, 06:38:09 PM »
In December I had severe pain in my left leg and was very worried about having a blood clot. During the time I was on birth control and knew that could contribute to blood clots. I'm also overweight so that increases the chances as well. I even went to the emergency room to get it checked out and the test was fine. Anyways, the pain stopped but today, just now actually, i'm having severe pain in the same leg as before. Would a blood clot have made itself known by now?(since December) I hate being paranoid over nothing, but the pain is so intense!

Blood clots can come and go as they please, and they can appear rather quickly, and yes birth control and extra weight contribute to their formation. HOWEVER, pain is not the only symptom of a blood clot. When a clot forms in an extremity it will cause swelling, redness, and even warmth in the extremity as well. If you're super concerned about it you could go back to the doctor for another doppler test but I don't think you need to unless you have (and I mean seriously have NOT think you have because I mentioned them lol) other symptoms as well.

Thank you so much for your response. That's very helpful. And I don't have any of those other symptoms. That's very comforting lol. The pain is gone now. It only lasted about 15 minutes. I'll just watch for it to come back or for any of those ther symptoms. Thanks again!

Don't watch out for symptoms. That's the best way for a hypo to experience psychosomatic symptoms.
