deadly bacteria in water- extremely worried help
« on: March 12, 2013, 01:58:51 PM »
Hello my name is Chris and I am new here,

I have an extreme fear and am constantly paranoid about my health, I am 19 also...

This post is because I am currently on vacation in florida on the gulf of mexico and was messing around in the water on the shore yesterday and also swimming in the hotel pool... That night I started to get extremely tired and irritable at about 8:30 pm, also to mention I got a good amount of sun.

What is really worrying me is that later that night my tongue got a white coating on it but no sore throat and also I have been having very frequent bowel movements (not diarreah) and lots of flatulance and gas/ stomach noises. I had an extremely hard time falling asleep because I am so worried after I came across an article with a comment from someone stating they live on the gulf but would never swim in the water because there has been a bacteria you can catch and it will kill you within 3 days...also I forgot to mention the bottoms of my feet were extemely itchy for a good part of the day.

It is now the next morning and I am still having lots of gas and frequent bowel movements still with a white tongue, and I have heard of some brain killing amoeba that takes 2 - 15 days for symptoms to appear and I am not able to enjoy my vacation because I am in extreme worry mode  :traurig001:

Any help or knowledge would be GREATLY appreciated!

Swallowing any type of untreated water can cause upset stomach and other digestive issues, not to mention anxiety its self can cause those issues, try to relax ( i know, easier said than done!) and enjoy the rest of your vacation. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start getting a high fever or vomiting.

Suspecting a change in diet, too .... especially since you're on vacation.  That can really play havoc with your bowels.
