jerking awake at night???

Hi all..
I just have a random question..
Lately, as I am about to drift off, I jerk awak...my whole body jerks....
and sometimes a grunt will come out....
I have NO idea why this is happeneing so often, but it's weird.
Has anyone ever experienced this?
I mean, I know it's normakl every once in a hile for your leg to jerk and or something,
but for the past two nights, my whole body will...
is this normal?

Yes, very normal...I HOPE! I have this a lot too. I have a few weird things that wakes me up, these same kind of "jerks", shooting sound in my head(yep, sounds like someone would kill me, BAM!), Or I may feel electrified etc...And it always happens just when I`m about to fall asleep. I have one book, anxiety related(can`t remember the name now), and it says these are actually signs of body FINALLY relaxing....

Yeah, you should have a party when it happens But seriously I understand it`s a sign of relaxing/falling asleep...

I have the same thing, and really seems to happen at times when I am under loads of stress.  It happened to me around Christmas a few times!  I'll be JUST falling aslep, and then I jolt awake and it kinda makes me take a gasp...not like I'm out of breath, but like a startle thing.  Then my heart will pound for a little, then I fall asleep again.  This happened to me a lot in college, too.  Guess it's another symptom of too much stress.

This is very common. Sometimes, when you are tired and falling asleep, your body interprets this as dying and jerks you awake. Called a myoclonic jerk and when it happens as you're falling asleep, it's totally normal. It mostly happens when you're really tired, which would naturally happen when you're under a lot of stress.

I tossed and turned most of last night, awake then asleep, then somewhere in between, wake up feeling tired, crappy and tense, anxiety truly sucks. I think its called sleep apnea, due to stress, but anyway usually goes away after couple of restless nights

This happens to me since I started my meds. Ill just be lying in bed... or relaxing.. then my arms/fingers/legs start twitching. I dont know, I just find it really funny!

I get it sometimes, but rarely. I hope that it's normal, and everyone that I've spoken to about it has experienced it at one point, someone even gave me a name for it one time.
