triggering words? how to get past them
« on: March 10, 2013, 07:09:48 PM »
Whenever I hear or see the word stroke, heart attack, aneurysm I get this sinking foreboding feeling come over me. I hate how often these words come up day to day. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any strategies?

I have triggering words as well... they get annoying, however I find myself often joking of these words... I work as a paramedic so I have to often deal with these words and people having the conditions of the aforementioned words. I just try as hard as I can to move past the words and triggering events. I use distractions a lot such as video games and exercise or watching mindless TV. hope this can help you a bit...

Like many people here I myself suffer from Health Anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I currently go to a therapist x 1 week.
