total freakout - breast discharge
« on: March 10, 2013, 06:03:15 PM »
I am in total overdrive freak out! I have noticed a sort of wet sensation on one of my breasts but never seen any leakage, then tonight I noticed some white fluid leaking from one breast. A tiny amount but definitely there. Of course I googled and all sorts of cancers came up as the main cause. I am totally freaking out about this, I am losing it big time. I breastfeed both my children but have been stopped for almost a year and this is only on one side. I am convinced I am going to die and not see my children grow up. This is awful :(

I just read that some women still leak milk even up to 18 months after stopping breastfeeding, it looked exactly like milk so I am praying it's that and not cancer.

I was just about to say I bet you are leaking BM. Try and take a deep breath and realize that leaking BM is the mist likely rational explanation.

How long have it been since you stopped breast feeding?  With the twins, my wife was leaking for quite awhile after.

I bf my daughter for 12 months. I don't leak bm after I stopped but I could squeeze my nipples 3 years later and it would come out. Try squeezing the other nipple, I bet stuff comes out.

I'm also sure I read somewhere that clear is fine.

I breastfed my daughter until I was pg with my son then bf him for 13 months so all in all I was bf for about two years. Thks is just on one side and seems to happen when something rubs against it, it was the side where I produced the most milk I think. I so hope it's that but don't know why it would start leaking now?

I don't have any children, but once had milky discharge after a mammogram.  The gyn said that if it's milky, it's not cancer.  Pressure on the breast (in my case) is what caused it.  It went away within a day or so.

I haven't bf for 6 months now and I can still easily squeeze milk from both sides. :)

Wow, I can still get milk out the other side too, had no idea!! Still worried that it's leaking spontaneously so going to the docs and still worried it's a pituitary gland tumor but at least there is a possible rational explanation for it. Thanks everyone.
