Am definitely into a holistic approach for all that can make its presence known to me mainly depression, phobias, loss of confidence, anxiety. Do take supplements but not as many as you mention. No St. John's Wart herb. Am big into Vit. C. Take 1000 and sometimes more.

Along with supplements and healthy eating, am big into meditation, yoga, other exercise, walking every day. It is not always easy to stick to all I assign myself, but it feels so good when I do most everything I want to. Music helps to get me motivated. Nice thread, hope others join in.

Be aware that St Johns Wort (SJW) interacts with many prescription drugs (partial list) so consult your doctor or pharmacist before trying SJW while taking medication, and especially antidepressants, some cardiovascular drugs and oral contraceptives.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.

I have found the following to have some effect, while not profound, very real:

1. Valerian root acts as a mild sedative, a high dose of Valerian feels very similar to low dose Xanax. The only natural supplement I can really recommend aside from fish oil. It puts me to sleep.
2. A high dose of SJW gives me a bit of an energy boost.
3. Passion flower makes me a bit drowsy.

I wish I could say that any of the above have helped me with long term/ lingering low level anxiety. Although, Valerian is decent when it comes to combating a panic attack, you just have to stay awake long enough for it to work. I wouldn't make a habit of dosing Valerian long term either, it may or may not act as a bit of a benzodiazapine.
