Ugh, they're so similar
« on: March 09, 2013, 02:31:47 PM »
Just yesterday I failed to have an endoscopy - urged it back up :p - so I'm left worrying if I have a hiatal hernia. I keep getting the following things, and lifestyle changes, acid reducers and gaviscon have no effect on any of it:

- Palpatations when bending/lying down, particularly after eating.
- Some foods getting stuck in throat and a horrid taste.
- Throat flutters/spasms and a burning feeling at bottom.
- Feeling like all the air is taken from you at once (worse lying down)
- Some lightheaded spells or indigestion; not constant but frequent.
- An airy feeling in the chest/throat with random chest pains, could be anywhere but mostly right side.

Just a couple of questions to ease my mind. Is there a clear way to tell the difference between a hiatus hernia and anxiety? And is a barium swallow (expected soon) accurate in finding hernias? Thanks again!
