Talking Sex with my Therapist
« on: March 08, 2013, 08:35:53 PM »
I went to my first ever visit with a therapist for anxiety and I want to bring up Relationship and sex issues.I'm late 30s and want to bring up some things that are kind of personal and don't want to shock her or anything.Like I have never had sex with someone I haven't payed for like Escorts and how I can't get a girlfriend. How do you suggest I bring this up or should I bring it up?

You should definitely bring it up. That's what they're there for! Your therapist will be most effective when you're 100% open.

You have to trust that as a therapist shes heard all kind of personal things.  The issue of sex always comes up during therapy, so you can wait til it comes up or come right out and tell your therapist how you feel.  A lot of people with anxiety have trouble with relationships, you're not alone. Don't think you're bad or weird.  We all struggle making meaningful connections cause we're so caught up in our own issues. You're on the path to getting better with this therapy thing, its always good to have someone to talk to and guide you.  All the best!

Thses people are professionals! They are not there to judge or laugh at you but to help you get through any problems you have! Defo open up to your therapist i think you wil walk out of there with a weight lifted off your shoulders

The most effective way to get the most out of any therapy is to be 100% honest. Both with the Therapist and yourself. You will not be judged by them at all and odds are that unless they have been in the business less than 5 years, they have pretty much heard everything and anything you could say.
