Yes I'm interested in this as well, I've got very mild anxiety that mostly only bothers me in the evening but some days like today it kicks in early and goes all day. I've not had any meds so far but think I might give something a try to see if I can get beyond this.

buspar works for some people, but the gold standard for anxiety appears to be SSRI's. they help turn the noise off.

I was on Buspar and it caused more side effects than good witch set of more anxiety. I would suggest to talk to your Doc and keep the benzos for an as needed only till you find the right non benzo med.

ive noticed that if you truly need the benzo, it will not make you high. I used to take klonopin back in high school and it made me super high because i didnt really need it. But now i take Ativan everyday and it doesnt make me high, it makes me feel normal.

Lexapro 10mg seemed to work well for me. I was experiencing terrible anxiety and panic attacks prior to being prescribed it. Within two weeks or so, I was able to function normally and only experienced actual panic attacks once in a great while.

The only reason I weaned off the medication is because I gained a ridiculous amount of weight (could probably be contributed to the increase in appetite and eating) and cannot be overweight in my career field (US Army). Other than the weight gain, which doesn't happen to everyone, I experienced no side effects on this medication and did NOT get high. SSRIs & SNRIs will NOT make a person feel high.

I have been prescribed both Xanax and Valium since stopping Lexapro and absolutely hate both. While I love how calm Xanax makes me feel, I just don't feel like myself. Sure, it's awesome to feel relaxed for once, but this comes with the expense of not being able to drive, function properly, or refrain from sleeping too much. The Valium did not help at all in terms of temporarily curbing my anxiety, but left my mouth extremely dry. I don't care for benzos for GAD/PD because they are a temporary fix. They're better for those who have situational anxiety (i.e. - flying on a plane, taking a test).

I would mention Lexapro to your doctor.
