Insomnia, sweating, really watery eyes
« on: March 06, 2013, 03:33:29 PM »
Hello, I need some advice. I started suffering with insomnia a month ago with night sweats that come and go. The most sleep I can get is a very light 2 hours, max. It's difficult for me to fall asleep, and after I wake up it's nearly impossible for me to get back to sleep. I went for a 6 mile walk the other day and even that was not enough to knock me out. If I wake up sweating, I'm usually drenched in it, but what's weird is that I only sweat on the side of my body that I'm laying on. My room isn't hot, my bed covers are thin, and I don't even wear pyjamas (usually). Ever since this all began my head feels like its constantly filled with fog and I can't concentrate on anything. My eyes also water a LOT and I sometimes wake up with tears rolling down my face.

I've been to see 3 doctors and all of them tell me it's just anxiety related and will not allow me to take sleeping pills because they think I'm too young (I'm 23) to have them. So what exactly am I suppose to do? I can't continue like this and I can't go back to my doctors because they don't seem interested. I feel like I'm slowly losing my mind :(

If they assure you the problem is anxiety based question them as to why they are not treating you for the anxiety. Trust me the right kind of anxiety medication taken at night will knock you out just as good as any sleeping pill. In a sense you will win out come the end of the day. As they won't give you any sleeping tablets. Ask for anxiety medication. Put them on the spot with this one. If they refuse ask them why they are refusing to treat a condition they say you have.

My doctor is still trying to get me referred to a psychologist. I've been waiting for months for someone to contact me -_-

This is going to sound ridiculous probably, but I am a hypochondriac, and I am worried I might have that rare illness that prevents you from sleeping, sporadic fatal insomnia. I'm only getting two hours of unrestful sleep per night, takes me about 2 hours to fall asleep. I either wake up an hour later with a racing heart or sweaty (or both). I'm having ridiculously vivid dreams. My brain feels foggy, like I'm not 100% concious or something and it's difficult to express emotion, talk, read or concentrate on anything. I feel slower and dumber. I get so frustrated in the night when I'm awake that I just want to cry, scream or smash something.

I just posted this here in hopes of finding someone I can relate to in all this. I've got a 7 year long history of anxiety and depression (which worsened recently as I've started thinking about the "S" word). I just need someone to talk to who understands me 8( I am scared and I feel like nobody really cares or wants to even try to understand, not even my doctor. Usually when I think I have an illness, I convince myself that I have it until a doctor rules it out. Considering how rare the disease I'm currently worried about is though, I did not mention in it to my doctor for fear of being ridiculed. I just need help so bad.

Ugh.  I have struggled off and on with insomnia since I was 16 yrs old.  (Now 31.)  My insomnia has just recently kicked back up - Thursday night - and has gotten progressively worse over the last three nights.  I have no trouble falling asleep usually, but I will only sleep for a couple of hours, then I wake up and am WIDE awake.  It's awful!!  Are you taking any medication for your anxiety?  Sometimes those will really help with sleep.  You ought to ask your doctor to prescribe something for the anxiety, since he won't do sleeping pills.  Have you tried any natural remedies?  Like melatonin.  I find that melatonin is hit and miss for me.  Sometimes, it knocks me out and I sleep great, and other times, it doesn't seem to work at all.  It might be worth a shot though.  There's also the age-old advice of a warm glass of milk to help you sleep.

If your thoughts are becoming as dark as they seem to be though, you definitely need to get the anxiety taken care of.  You are not alone though!  I definitely know all about insomnia, and I also struggle with HA.  I just posted in that forum a little bit ago about my most recent frustration.  I hope you are able to find something that works for you, and that you are able to get some rest!   :action-smiley-065:

I'm still not getting any restorative sleep. Kalms don't work. The brain fog feels like it's getting worse and I'm starting to have memory problems, really messed up dreams and hallucinations. I feel apathetic all the time as well.

Does anyone here suffer with brain fog related to lack of sleep? I feel like I'm going demented, I just need to find someone who understands what the heck I'm talking about because nobody, not even my doctor, is listening to me.

Well, now I'm trying nytol. Took one before bed last night, made me quite drowsy, but was laying awake until 7am, and then at some point I finally fell asleep........ for two hours. I really can't put up with this for much longer.
