OMG please...
« on: March 05, 2013, 01:40:43 PM »
Went away for a long weekend friday to monday, I had already been having a return of my headaches for the past 2 weeks which seemed to be behind my eyes all the time. Anyway this continued friday and saturday and I was getting pretty stressed out by a nightclub style bar that my fiancee and her family kept going to because I have uncorrected keratoconus and all the neon style lights were multiple and driving me insane.

My stress led me to taking an effexor 37.5mg tab on saturday night and again on sunday morning - I had been prescribed these a few days before going away but my plan was not to start them until after I came back because of possible sides.

Sunday morning started very much the same as usual with my behind the eye pains, I took the effexor on an empty stomach at about 8:30 am and we got ready to go to the local cafe for breakfast, we went via the shops so I could get some pain killers for the usual headaches I get.

While getting them I felt very warm and abit dizzy, ignored this and continued onto the cafe for breakfast this was about 10:30 am I sat down and felt very lightheaded then came over all hot and my whole body went into tingles it felt like I was going to pass out....this lasted for a good 10 mins while I just sat there with my head in my arms until I finally sipped some tea and forced some food into my mouth which seemed to pick me back up.

after this I havent been right at all, I had continued dizzyness, with very strange head sensations all day sunday which carried onto monday with the feeling I was going to pass out at any time. Called the Dr as soon as I got home on monday afternoon and was told its possibly the sideffect from the effexor and to stop the medication which I did, she booked me an appointment for this morning in which she said it probably increased all my anxiety symptoms and it was common to do that in the first week of treatment but to stop taking this now and try something else.

I asked about beta blockers which she agreed to try me on so im now trying Half beta-prograne 80mg sustained release (propranolol).

Today all I keep getting is this strange headache which is like pressure/tension/soreness across the top of my head and into my temples which seems to get worst when im not relaxing and doing housework and whatever and this evening it has moved to my crown area of my scalp only, I dont feel half as dizzy or the passout feeling I had for the previous 2 days so I guess thats a positive?

I can shake my head around without any extra pain, also lying down and going to the toilet or coughing does not make it any worst, just seems it gets tight/tingly when im doing other stuff.

Ironically the pain I usually have around my eye area seems to have disappeared right now as have some other sensations I have whined about in recent times like increased saliva and such.

But yeah im still worried sick over brain tumour being the cause of all this....

advice anyone please? was this from a new medication? and does anyone have experience with beta blockers for anxiety? like how long do they take to feel an effect?

Checked my BP numerous times today as well and each time its been high at 150s/100 sort of figures even after taking the beta blocker.

sounds like you have yourself pretty worked up.

IDK if it is due to the meds.  that is a question for a pharma or doctor.

my advice?  throw out the bp monitor.  add some proactive activities to your life.   recognize that anxiety causes all kinds of mayhem in a body.

being worried sick over a brain tumor isn't helping you any.  what evidence do you have that you have a brain tumor.....  having read your other posts I haven't seen any objective evidence of such.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Well bp was still sky high at drs, bottom line was 116  :sick0002:

She seems to think my headache/pressure is due again to sinusitis since my ears are again dull and blocked (I did start to feel some ear pressure too yesterday) and rest tension headache...pput me again on amoxcillin 500mg for a week.

My bp is due to anxiety according to her, I only have the bp monitor because of it being high before and I was told to keep an eye on it, dont use it much at all just wondered where it was after the weekends crazyness.
