pain right below sternum

Hi all---

I'm having pains right below the center of my sternum. They come and go but usually happen multiple times in a row, like waves.

I was diagnosed with reflux 3 years ago but haven't been treating it for the past 2 years or so.

Does anyone else experience this? Paranoid it's gallbladder or something serious.

There is something called costochondritis and this could be a symptom of that. There are times when this area is painful for me as well. I have spoken of this to my GP and my acupuncturist and they have both attributed it to the costochondritis. But each person is different perhaps seek the opinion of your doctor.

I think gall bladder pains happen somewhere on the right side, not in the sternum area.

I'd been experience pain right below the sternum as well as chest pains for several weeks. I was really freaking out, even went to the ER one night when I was having a really bad attack. I started taking prilosec because my friend suggested it might be reflux or gastritis.  Now it's virtually gone.
