So I have health anxiety and I was then diagnosed with Lyme disease
I'm in my 6th month of treatment and yes I feel improved but no way fully better and I worry badly that I will never get better
All over the Internet  yet to find a story o someone coming of meds and being 'cured'

I'm scared I will have this forever .
I had a baby when I had Lyme and I'm scared I passed it to him in utero and that worries me everyday.

I am sorry you are not feeling entirely better. I doubt you passed Lyme to your baby, but you could always talk to his pediatrician about your concerns. Fortunately it is treatable, so either way try not to stress too much. Also, you may want to check out the book, "How to Stop Being Your Symptoms and Start Being Yourself," and perhaps that will help you feel better about the lingering Lyme symptoms. I plan to check it out, too. I wish you all the best!!

I agree with world of worry....

I have an eye disease myself that I am dealing with...  it is actually brought on by excess cortisol being produced due to acute stress that I have been dealing with the last couple of months.  The stress that brought it on is over now but my eye issue hasn't cleared.  my opthamologist saw me again last week and is sending me in to a retina specialist... I posted about it last week.

the way I see it----it is what it is.  no amount of worrying over it will help and ACTUALLY will make it worse.  same goes for you... the more you worry about not getting better or that your child has it (unlikely in my mind) the more likely it will be that your mind will take any symptoms you maybe having  and make them worse or more intense OR you will see symptoms in your child.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

It will get better. My mother got Lyme disease when she was in the San Francisco area after the earthquake of 1989. It took some time but slowly she regained her strength and became better. As for passing it onto your child I can not tell you about that .

Bless you! I can't imagine the stress of dealing with your own recovery while caring for a newborn! Have you discussed your concerns for your baby with your doctor?

I agree completely, worry can only make it worse.  It's so hard not to worry, though.  I always think of the example of coming across a deadly animal, and being told, "Don't worry, just stay calm.  They only react to fear."  Like yea right, I'm not going to be afraid of a grizzly bear!!??  The only real alternative is to focus on the worry, and not the Lyme.  How?  I'm not sure, but therapists and other professionals are out there just for that reason.

Thanks for checking in, by the way.  People come and go on these forums, and some stick in my mind more than others.  You've been one of those that's stuck in my mind.   :action-smiley-065:
