anyone ever expierence anything like this?? worried..
« on: March 03, 2013, 11:18:15 PM »
Hello everyone, im a little worried and can use some input. For some time now during sleep my thighs would become numb, no matter what position i slept in. Its kinda like one of your limbs fall asleep but there are no pins and needles just numbness. At times the numbness extends on down my leg.

Right now i am very worried, the numbness already has e worried but what happened to me last night has me worried even more. Okay so i woke up out of a dead sleep last night, i dont even recall getting out of bed but here i was running to the bathroom screaming like someone was killing me, my husband was freaked out but i was having a pain like nothing i have ever felt before, i was in tears rubbing the outside of my thigh. I noticed my thigh was numb, very numb and it went on own into my foot tho the lower part of my leg wasnt as numb as my thigh was. This pain was in a spot on the outside of my thigh and it felt like someone had stabbed me with a red hot fire poker. This pain was worse then any labor pains i have had. It took the pain bout 15 minutes to subside after i stood up. Its been sore all day in that area and a little behind my knee area (back of leg behind the knee). My thigh was also numb for hours after i woke in the morning.. i am afraid i may have gotten a blood clot now.

Has anyone ever had this before? i know anxiety didnt cause that awful pain i had but my anxiety is making me a lot more afraid. I dont know what to do.. i want to go to the er but i dont know.. please help.. input is appreciated. Please forgive me for how this is written cause im on my phone.

Thank you all for listening.

When i was pregnant the front of my right thigh became numb. My son is now 19 yrs old, and the numbness is still there. Some days it has the pins and needles feeling. Other days it is just numb. Sometimes there are sharp pains. My doctor figures it is a nerve thing and since it has been going on for this long I just accept it for what it is. Yours might involve a pinched nerve as well. Of course, I'm not a doctor, so I'm just throwing that out there. From what others have posted on this site about blood clots, that pain doesn't subside and the area is red and hot. Make an appointment with your doctor and have him/her check ot out. It doesn't like anything sinister. Just my opinion though.

Thanks for your post. I thought maybe a nerve but its both thighs. I dont think the pain was caused by a blood clot. I thought since the pain was sooo bad and got better a while after i stood up that maybe the circulation was cut off and perhaps that caused a blood clot?? If it was circulation it had to be cut off for a long time cause that pain was awful. I never wana feel that ever again..

I have experienced waking up in the middle of the night and my arm was dead. It was beyond the feeling of sleeping on it. There was no feeling at all. Then the feeling started coming back and it was beyond excrutiating. The pain was horrible. I wonder if that happened to you? Like you said, the circulation got cut off and as the feeling was coming back, the pain woke you up.

I will tell you a story that happened to me around 20 plus years ago. One day when I was walking
I felt like someone was pouring cold water on my left outer thigh. The thigh began to tingle, got numb and
became cold feeling. It persisted and got worse, so I went to an orthopedic doctor who told me that it was
a nerve wrapped around my pelvic area. He push a certain point in my pelvic area and the pain shot down
by entire left leg. He told me that I have tow choices. The first was to get surgery to remove the nerve or to live
with it. Needless to say, I have lived with it now for over 20 years and to this day, my left inner thigh never has
got its full feeling back and still is numb. I am not saying that yours will last this long, but it may be a nerve that
is trapped somewhere or the like.
