The New Girl

Hello all!

I'm new to the forums here but definitely not new to anxiety. Specifically, I have always struggled with Health Anxiety. It seems to come and go at different points in my life ... though I've never really been able to detect specific triggers for it. I have lived for about five years without any major anxiety attacks but for some reason over the course of the last two months, my HA has kicked into high gear and I'm really struggling.

I'm hoping that this community will help me soothe some of my fears and talk me down when I convince myself of some life-threatening illness but also teach me health ways to cope with my HA as well.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hey everyone
Its so relieving to come upon a website with so many people experiencing so many of the same things.
I`m a 21 year old student and in the last 2 months my health anxiety has changed my life. I`ve gone from being a normal person who enjoys life to someone who goes to sleep thinking about death, wakes up in a panic and just struggles through the day to get by without feeling any `weird`symptoms that send me into panic attack mode.
As early as I can remember I`ve had an obsessive fear of brain tumors... subconciously it started early in my childhood I specifically remember reading an article in a newspaper when I was about 8 or 9 years old about meningitis or some other deadly neurological disease and I remember I tried for YEARS to forget what I had read because it was cosuming me with fear. Messed up huh.
In my teens I remember having constant anxiety in school. Constantly fearing I`m going to faint in class. Fearing being in situations that I can`t control because of a deep underlying fear of losing control in some way regarding my health. This all escalated after I fainted at the gym because of low blood sugar but it became an absolute obsession for years.
Little did I know the worst part was yet to come. Im 21 and for the las few months I`ve been experiencing true brain tumor symptoms. Ive been to the doctor and hospital 7 times in the last few weeks.`All the doctors explain to me that its anxiety or a vitamin d deficiency. I feel like theyre not listening. What else is messed up? I found out that my fathers mother died from a brain tumor at an early age. 2 days ago my friends 10 year old cousin died of a brain tumor.
I am paralyzed with fear. Im falling behind in class. I`m scheduled for an CT scan on Wednesday which I am terrified of. Every day I pray that it is not my day to go yet.
Im wondering if all these lifelong fears finally manifesting themselves physically are a weird coincidence or a sign of my fate...
Any ways I can relate to how so many of you feel and its great to know I`m not alone... I wish you all luck in your health struggles and I hope to learn more from many of you!
