Leg issues
« on: March 02, 2013, 07:18:21 PM »
For the past few weeks my legs constantly feel tight. Like when you are stretching them. It's annoying more than painful and its causing me allot of anxiety. I stretch them I eat bananas I drink plenty of water. Is this an anxiety symptom? I guess a better way to describe it would be when you are really cold and muscle tighten only when I rub the muscles they don't feel tight. Also my leg muscles have been twitching. I'm scared this is ms or Als or some neurology problem. Tylenol doesn't stop it nor does ibpro.

Muscle tightness, twitching and hot/cold sensations are all anxiety symptoms. I've had them all in the past for weeks or longer, and it's not hurt  me yet. I can all but  promise you do not have als or ms!

I think I just posted in anther thread that I am not always quick to jump to anxiety on every odd thing that our body does.  But for me personally, when I am anxious (and sometimes I don't even feel really anxious at the time), the first place it hits is my legs.  It is not pain, just a general tight feeling that you describe.  That is usually for me, the first indication that I anxiety is building up.

As for twitching, that is something everyone has.   Statistically about 5 people per 100,000 will be diagnosed with ALS. (Most over the age of 50) However 90,000 in 100,00 will experience muscle twitches.  That is why doctors don't consider twitching an issue when it is not accompanied by other syndromes.
