Tight chest pressure almost immediatly after eating :(
« on: March 02, 2013, 01:44:02 PM »
I thought I was through with symptoms since my appendix was removed, but far from it! Every time I eat anything my chest gets tight, I get the sensation of palpitations (even though when I feel my pulse it seems normal) and my throat flutters, even if I just  have a slice of toast. It's making me scared to eat because it feels so horrid. What could it be? Surely I can't be getting anxious every single time I eat something?!

Does it happen when you eat fruit and vegetables?
Could be a gluten intolerance.

See especially after you have bread, pasta or anything else with wheat or gluten.
Might be something to look into

It could also be acid reflux. If you've had surgery recently, it could be worse for a while. Reflux can cause chest pain, shoulder/arm pain, fullness in the chest, palpitations, nausea and indigestion.

Try some prilosec or zantac 75 over the counter.

I get this weird tight feeling in my throat sometimes when I eat, like my throat is tightening around the food and it kinda spreads a little down into my upper chest and it goes away pretty quickly. It is usually after the first couple of bites. I have GERD and a hiatial hernia and get lots of weird throat sensations (sometimes a fizzy feeling, sometimes a flutter feeling and sometimes it feels like someone's poking me in the throat with a stick.)
