Anyone here who has had a neuro work up.........
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:03:53 PM »
Has anyone ever had the constant nervous feeling? I just started doing this about two days ago. It’s not a panic attack but feeling like I’ve had too much caffeine and this subtle constant fear of I don’t know. Really thinking about going to a neurologist and having a neuro work up, having a hard time believing this is just anxiety. It’s got to be something neurological and by my dad having Alzheimer’s and my dad’s mom it’s makes me wonder if it’s the very early stages of Alzheimer’s. You do have some people that get it early and anxiety is one sign. I’m only 43.

I had a brain MRI back in August of 2011 but they were looking for acoustic neuroma for dizziness and not early stages of Alzheimer’s.  Last night I had to drive on the freeway to go pick my daughter up from the bus station because she had just arrived from college and I had my 13 and 12 year old in the car, I felt scared the whole time and I was afraid I was going to pass out while driving. I have a fear of having a panic attach with the kids in the car and freaking out in front of them. I’m just tired of this constant fear and worrying over everything, this has to be neurological.

I'm having head pains in the back of my head, dull pains under the chin area and sometimes in my ears. Just tired of all of this and want some answers.

it is common statement    having a hard time believing this is just anxiety   and yet most often it is.

that nervous feeling. yeah common with anxiety.  actually it is that adrenaline hangover.   I had it bad a few weeks back.  hate that feeling.

I don't know why this has to be neurological.     other than that is what anxiety peeps often seem to believe that anxiety is nothing more than a nuisance completely discounting all of the physical mayhem it can wreak on a body.    As I have said, anxiety isn't a JUST.  it is  tough on a body.  it can rule people's lives.  it can ruin peoples family, relationships, jobs, financial well being.  it can outright cause physical disorders.  I have one now due to stress with my eyes.  it often causes IBS, gerd, reflux.  then add on the myriad of hundred's of other symptoms.....    so why is it a JUST  and if it is a just why is the constant worrying and fear ruling your life?

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I dont' know sickpack and I don't like living like this, I try not to think about it but I can't stop. Just so scared of getting old and not being able to take care of myself. Seems like it's coming fast, 43 today 63 tomorrow (if I live that long). The Alzheimer's scare me even more, don't wanna be like that but it's a greater chance I will get it cause it is proven to be genetic.

you get better when you adopt proactive mindsets and habits not hanging onto the reactive ones.

sure alzheimer's is scary.  so is cancer, brain tumors, strokes, .......   what is worrying about it all going to get you?

If having a constant nervous feeling is an early sign of Alzheimer's, then everyone on this forum has it.

What seems more likely... that we all miraculously have Alzheimer's, or that you've got HA that's latched onto what happened to your grandma & father?

I'm sorry about your dad, by the way... friends of mine with Alzheimer's parents tell me it's very hard to deal with. But you've got 20 years before you need to start worrying about that.

I just hate that the symptoms seem to change, this whole HA started with me exactly two years ago and out of all of that time I had never gotten the closed throat feeling until a month and a half ago. I’ve had the pin prick feeling all over my body (use to that), I’ve had the constant gas and gurgling (use to that), I’ve had the ice pick head aches (use to that), I’ve had the off balance feeling (use to that), the panick attacks that come out of no where (use to that) it’s just the new feelings that scare me. Is this how it works it’s just different feelings off and on?

Anxiety can do amazing things to the body.  It has been playing with mine for well over 7 months now.  Different symptoms - some last months, some last a few days.  All indicative of awful terminal disorders.  All indicative of anxiety.

My dad passed away this week from ALS.  He died peacefully, although for me, watching someone die for the first time it did not feel peaceful to me - but I'm assured it was.  It's just shocking to see someone die....I'm sure many of you may already have been through this.  But the point I wanted to make was that this week I have had a return of all sorts of symptoms I have previously experienced/I have had an upsurge in symptoms that have been quietly happening in the background for a while.....twitching, tight throat and swallowing difficulty, dry flaky skin, dry eyes.......and I have a very strong reason to be anxious this week......so the direct correlation between stress and symptoms proved to me what anxiety can do....I've not worried about those symptoms this week cause I can justify why they are happening.

The truth is, I shouldn't worry about them the rest of the time cause even though I'm not facing a week like this week all the time, worrying about your health, seeing loved ones suffer, all those things over the past few months in themselves are enough to cause ongoing symptoms of anxiety....so thinking 'this can't just be anxiety' is very very common...but it probably is just that.

OMG ALS, I had the fear of Bulspar ALS when I started getting the closed throat feeling, that fear comes and goes.

You did mention something that made me think of something, at the first part of this month I had 3 vaccines which caused me to have a bad reaction, I was sick for 4 days afterward. During that whole time I didn't have anxiety or the closed throat feeling, just worried about the reactions of the vaccines but didn't have any fear of any other illnesses and I guess the reason was I was actually sick with something and couldn't preoccupy myself with thoughts of "WHAT IF" sicknesses. Hmm something to think about.

And I am going through stresses right now, I hate my job, my 23 year old daughter is getting beat on by her boyfriend and won't leave him alone, my defiant 16 year old son has been in placement for the past year and will be coming home in two weeks and I'm also having relationship issues with someone who is irresponsible and always wants me to cater to his needs but can never be there for me so I'm sure this is making matters worse for me.

Has anyone ever had the constant nervous feeling

YES!!  In fact, sometimes I just want to jump out of my own skin and run away from that feeling.  It's absolutely awful.

Goodness, well I am sure those are enough stressors for anxiety to take hold.  I am sure.

I always worried and I have long had a mild health anxiety but I never had it so bad that it caused symptoms until my dad got ill last year.  Then, bang, symptoms - of all sorts of things but, of course, largely ALS, began.  And then I was in a major car crash - and symptoms continued.  So yes, life's stressors do of course cause anxiety symptoms and the longer the stress goes on, the longer the symptoms will.

Vanilla, I'm so sorry you are going through so much stress and bad times. No wonder your symptoms of anxiety are cropping up. And yes, I think, like everyone else, that that is what it is. And I think you said yourself : "different feelings on and off" You wouldn't be feeling like this if it was one specific thing. And true, as long as you're stressed, they'll stick around, unfortunately.
Can you maybe get into therapy or counseling so you could talk out some of your stress with someone, since it doesn't sound like your s/o is helpful.  :(

I just started two weeks ago, only two sessions. I found a woman who is a psychiatrist and couselor I may change to her cause she can also monitor my meds along with couseling me. My psychiatrist pretty much is just a pill writer and not much of couseling, just tell him what's going and he writes scrips and I dont' like that.

I think that is a fantastic idea! I have heard that about psychiatrists, too. The best combination I have found is med/therapy because you can learn the tools to cope with and eventually hopefully overcome HA. Meds will work great to mask it, but if you go off, it will hit you again, and quick!!
