Im in a terrible mess from my meds!!!
« on: March 01, 2013, 09:47:30 AM »
I'm in a state of such confusion and having so many physical symptoms from my medication, looking for advice!
I started remeron30mg  5weeks ago, along with klonopin 0.5mg for panic/anxiety.  I have felt that the remeron isn't really working and I'm having quite a few side effects such as pins and needles, lack of appetite, tremors. I've been taking the klonpin, not so much for mental anxiety but I think to help relive some of these phyical symptoms. It really calms me down. Anyway, my pdoc switched me from remeron to paxil CR yesterday and told me to just quit the remeron....also he wants me to wean off the klonopin.
Last night I took my first paxil and NO remeron (previously on 30mg). Around 1am I woke up with the worst pains/ pins and needles in my lower legs and feet. It felt like all my nerves were raw...horrible! I jumped out of bed and walked around for a while to see if it would pass, it didn't. I ended up taking another remeron 30mg and klonopin 0.125  before I finally went back to sleep.
Could it have been the paxil (after just one dose)? I doubt it. Or because I stopped the remeron??  Not sure what to do next. I want to come off the klonopin and the remeron but unsure how to go about it. Which one first? How to taper etc.  I don't think I want to introduce a third med (paxil) into the mix as i won't know what is causing what.
I sent an email to my doctor, so hopefully I'll get a response, but I thought I'd put it out there to see what any of you had experienced.

Well I didn't get a response from my doctor but I'm feeling SO depressed and having bad thoughts so I'm not going to take any more Paxil. My mouth is very dry and I have zero appetite. I will just keep trying to wean off the Klonopin first even though the withdrawal effects Re horrible

I'm not sure why the doc would expect you to start weaning from the klonopin until the antidepressant is working and you are stable.  Seems like a better way to do it to me.  Best of luck.

Because he's afraid of dependance and so am I. I've tried to stop it a couple of times and had bad wd symptoms so I'm trying to taper off slowly

I'm so scared to keep taking the Paxil it made me so depressed and I was having suicidal thoughts. I really just want to come off all these meds as I think it's making me worse. I have anxiety over putting all these chemicals on my brain!!

I have anxiety over putting all these chemicals on my brain!!

I suspect this explains most of your symptoms. Have you considered psychotherapy?

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
