I must admit ive never been a fan of taking meds but i gave in today and realised i needed help to get me through this again i have real bad anxiety again the kind that lasts day in day out.I was prescribed betablockers and an anti depressant/anti anxiety drug .Today was a terrible day heart was racing from the minute i got up nausea, dizziness every imaginable feeling that comes with anxiety. At times i was neally in tears so i made up my mind fought through the fear of going and so pleased i did,i thought i was a failure but after taking just one beta blocker i feel better than i have allday although really worn out.Now im not sure why im posting this i dont feel back to normal but i feel at least some relief for now.Thank you all for past comments and words of support  :happy0151:

Hello,

That's one of the good things about this forum . . . you don't have to know why you are posting, only that you are coming here and you feel like doing a posting . . . .I have a bit of understanding what you are going through . . . when I was having extreme episodes of overactive thyroid, I thought my heart would explode . . . once I started on the beta blockers as a bridge until my treatment date, it was a whole different world . . . . I still had anxiety (which is a symptom of overactive thyroid) but the one little change in the rapid heart beat just gave me the encouragement that I could get through this . . . for me too, I was exhausted at the end of the day and no, it is not a magic pill, but you are showing such strength of character to get beyond your fear, please know that you have made great strides .. . .come to this forum as often as you would like and that is reason enough . . .keep in touch . . . take care, kc

I've never been much of a fan of meds, either, but I have been on them in the past.  Now, I choose other means of addressing my anxiety.

In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being on meds so long as you learn to manage your anxiety in other ways (CBT, therapy, meditation, exercise, diet, etc.).  Look at it as a short term proposition while you learn to address your anxiety.

Well done for getting throught the day!  When you're really anxious, making it through to bedtime feels like an achievement.  And if the beta blockers help... great!  Life's too short to suffer.  I really hope things start to improve for you soon :)
