right leg FEELS swollen, but isn't.
« on: February 27, 2013, 10:01:32 AM »
Has anyone experienced this? My right leg feels as if it is swollen, but its not. Clothes feel tighter on the leg, as well as my socks and shoes. It also generally feels weaker and I get a lot of aches and pains in this leg.

Many pains in the leg are related to trigger points from other parts of the body. They also come about as a result of foot issue lie plantar fasciitis.
I have the feeling that sometimes my feet and my legs are so painful. (I have had Deep vein thrombosis) I wear a compression stocking to help with the blood flow.
It could be from varicose veins and it also could be from posture from your sitting and from psoas muscle pain.
I know you probably hear this from others but the GP is the best person to see for this.

Thanks. I was paranoid of a dvt at first but I don't have severe pain or any true swelling and its been a month lol so that's doubtful.

I've always had poor posture. I'm hoping working on that, plus using insoles might help. I run around all day at work

Just a quick note~ I have learned since being diagnosed that one of the symptoms of Fibro is the feeling that extremeties are swollen. That feeling and the pain might prompt your DR to check other trigger points. I gotta warn you though, it's not fun! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply! I don't really have the trigger points like fibro has. I'm going to try some home fixes like good insoles and things and see how I feel. It's so irritating though! I have to wonder if it's a manifestation of all my anxiety.

Another manner of treating this might be thru acupuncture. I truly believe in this for of alternative medicine.
I have fibro and trigger points and chronic fatigue and DVt and on and off anxiety. The acupuncture has helped greatly with anxiety and the fibro and trigger points.

@msg ~ I am going to look into that and check on prices. My Dr wanted me to try Lyrica but after my experience with Cymbalta?????? Fat chance of that!

Have you tried compression hosiery? It does wonders for tired achy legs. I wear mine because I too had a dvt and it makes my leg feel amazing! They make weaker non prescription strength stockings available at any pharmacy or drug store. Even knee high compression socks may help.

I get that a lot.  I have chronic pain that seems to have no real cause.  Hasn't killed me yet, though.  It's possible it's just another anxiety thing, too.  God knows I have endless supplies of that.

I get this feeling in my left leg at times. I only notice it when I am wearing shorts and am barefoot. If I have on pants...even without shoes...I don't notice it. Weird. Us HA folks are hypersensitive to every sensation our body has. I think mine might be a support thing...I am gonna try better shoes.
