Another Mole...on my breast
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:36:00 AM »
 :(
I posted about this already but I can't remember when. It was before summer, when I knew I'd have other things coming up like my mammogram, colonoscopy, dentist..blah blah blah. Well those things are done and I think it's time to go to the dr. for this mole. It's this tiny lil thing on my breast-on the areola to be exact :(
I used to tan a lot back in my stupid days and have since had a lot of moles removed. This tiny thing was like a freckle really but it's a little bit raised and it's been on my mind so much lately. I have to go have it removed. I had an itch the other day and I'm not sure but it may have been this mole. I know that's a sign ....I know. And so I'm afraid. Will this HA ever go away? Last time I went to this dermatologist ( only one my insurance covers that's not a far drive) I had a black mole on my butt cheek adn when I told him we had a chuckle. That mole was fine. Ha ha. So funny. Now I feel embarrassed to say where this one is!
Can't I be like a normal person and say oh I guess I'll go have this looked at.... and then move on?

I only worried about moles once and for a short period of time. Usually moles are not big on my anxiety list for some reason. Moles come and go, they change shape and color and they just are. Let them be. I have a mole in my breast that has gotten bigger and changed through the years. I've never had my moles looked at or I would be at the doctors office everyday. I am very light skinned and so I burn easily and have a bunch of moles. Sometimes they itch, sometimes I scratch one off, most times I accidentally shave them off but they grow back. Relax. Take a breather. Let the mole live. It just wants to live.

Overwhelmingly, all most peeps need is a yearly dermo visit to get a skin check. Then they can have a map of their moles and stuff and things that they MIGHT have to watch, if any. Anything over going once a year (unless told by the dermo, for a particular reason, to come in every 6 mos) is not needed, IMHO. Learning what to look for in moles / skin lesions is important, too. But, with an HA peeps, this is often tough as we can worry over things (and 'see' things) that wouldn't even be a concern for others. This is why that once a year trip to the Dermo is good.

From what you describe, your mole (freckle, as you said) would seem to be of no concern. Of course, I'm no Doc and I can't see your mole. The key would be in a mole that is changing in color and size and border irregularity.

Peace and Feel Well:)

I have no idea how old you are, but since I was pregnant, and in my later 20's, I have developed about 4-5 freckle/moles on my areolas. They always look a bit off. I freaked out once and rushed to the derm and he looked and said it is very common to get them in that area as we age (something about hormones or something) and that they tend to look a bit off. He was not at all concerned with mine, as I would imagine your doctor won't be with yours. Good luck!

thanks guys.. this I guess a little weird though because this seems a bit raised...almost just like a scab-yeah that's it-it's like a scab, feels dry-ish and raised like a scab...but I don't know if it always did. I better just go and get that once a year check huh?

I have one in the same place and it sounds exactly like yours.  It hasn't changed in years.  It got darker during my pregnancy, but that's it.  I'm sure it's fine, but get it checked so you don't have to worry.

I had a boob mole removed once.  The edges were blurry, it was dark in the center, uneven, all the bad things.

Totally fine.  Just a mole.

Slightly awkward procedure to get it taken off, but doctors have seen weirder ;)

so did you see a dermatologist for the removal? And did you cover what you could of your breast? See this dermatologist-one with evening hours and takes my insurance-he removed one off my butt last year or 2 yrs ago... and we had a quick chuckle about its location I remember ..and I remember thinking thank God this is almost over I really didn't think it was so funny...anyway so I'm like ok now I gotta have him on my breast this time? How in the world can I cover my nipple while giving him room on the areola for this darn mole?? for goodness sake...i think i just have to go ahead and schedule this appt.

I'm smiling... they've seen it all. Just let them do their job and don't worry about them seeing your breast.  It's ok.  It could be worse  :laugh3:

I wouldn't worry about having to cover up.  They've seen it all before!  I had a dermatologist do my removal, yes.  It didn't take very long and didn't hurt.
