Something in my lower abdomen
« on: February 24, 2013, 05:47:30 PM »
If I press down in my belly almost right above my pelvic bone it feels hard. I can press far in like half the length of my fingers but it's firm but not too firm. Is this my uterus expanding?! Is it normal for that area to feel kinda firm if you press in on it? I'm average size I'm not super skin I have some belly fat but I'm not big by any means. I'm about 5'2 and weigh about 126. So can any other women feel it or know what I'm saying? If so please tell me and reassure me it's not my uterus growing!

are you concerned that you are pregnant?

personally I don't push on myself like that.  I knew when my uterus was enlarging when I laid on my tummy, I could feel the lump

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

I worry myself sick over being pregnant even though there is really no possible way. I take bc pills like I should, use condoms, none have broken and I make sure they haven't, spermicide film and pull out. I think I find symptoms which aren't really there but I'm afraid my belly is hard. I know I sound crazy but yeah..

then, my dear, you are letting your anxious over thinking get the better of you.    :winking0008:

btw---STOP pushing on yourself like that.  you will end up bruising yourself OR make yourself have a little lump because you've aggravated some lymph node or muscle in the area.

Thanks for that. I really appreciate it! I just go symptom searching and find all sorts. Like if I take a nap or go to bed earlier and I press on my belly all the time and its ruining my life. I'm almost positive there is pretty much no way I could be because of all the protection.

I remember one time I laid down on the floor, on my stomach because I was painting a baseboard in my living room. When I did so, I felt a huge hard lump in the same region your describing. Needless to say I had a total melt down because it was the strangest feeling I had ever felt. During that time I was also obsessed with the big C. I was sure I had it. I lived in fear for the longest time until I was forced to go to the doctor for an unrelated cause and they felt my abdomen but found nothing. I was surprised so when they scheduled me for an abdominal ultrasound because no gynecologist has ever been able to examin me successfully, I knew they would see it. They had to because I know what I felt. Well, it came back clear and they hadn't seen jack. There was nothing there. After that, I have been pressed, probed and prodded numerous times and nothing has ever been found. I don't know what that huge, hard lump was but today I was talking to a neighbor and she told me, coincidentally, that sometimes if you feel a hard lump like that it has to do with backed up bowels. It kind of makes sense now when my doctor asks me about my bathroom habits before she presses around my abdomen. So just take that into consideration of what you might be feeling. Other than that it could just be one of those quirky things we feel in our bodies and have no idea what it is but its suppose to be that way.
