leg pain worries. vascular disease/circulation.
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:10:09 AM »
I wrote about this before. I have this leg soreness all around both my legs for the last four weeks. Usually comes after a day of exertion they'll just be sore all over the next day. I saw my dr who put me on pills for it. but the pills didn't really work because I'm still getting it.

I am pretty sure that this leg pain is happening because ive recently gained weight (im 295 lbs up from 280 in january)  :traurig001: and my dogs have a lot of needs for exercising that is putting extra stress on my knees/legs. then I should just lose weight right. (that is my plan)

but when I look up the symptoms online it is all saying stuff like, leg pain is due to 'poor circulation, peripheral vascular disease, blood clot blocked arteries, spine problems' and it is freaking me out. why don't they just say it can be from your legs having an extra load to handle. but then I wonder what if my leg pain actually was from that and not just being overweight?

The doctor did do blood work and checked leg circulation in late january and said he isn't worried about it. but I dunno. I guess these google results are making me fear the worst because they all said leg pain is a serious risk for those conditions.

Sorry but did I read this correctly? You said that your legs are sore after a day of exertion, that is completely normal. I can hardly walk the next day after my leg day at the gym. Also at 295 pounds I would bet if it was something it is simply circulation, which is not serious and can be reversed.

yes but it is with light exertion, going to the grocery store and carrying them in or walking the dogs for 20 minutes. then my legs will be sore that night

I am not trying to come across as rude or insulting but it could very well be due to being heavy and in poor shape. I am not sure of your gender or height but 295 pounds is a lot of weight for any pair of legs to carry around. I use to run with a man who originally weighed 310 pounds at 5'11 and at the beginning of his new exercise regime he had to Rollerblade because even a 30 minute walk would cause pain in his knees and legs. Is the pain something you never experienced before even with heavy exertion?

yeah I think you are right, before, I could comfortably run for 40 minutes everyday. but I gained these latest twenty pounds and I probably reached the limit of what my legs can take.

not rude at all, I know i am in terrible shape. I've just started changing my diet this week. I guess I will drop weight and hope this changes things. If it doesnt I'll have to talk to the dr

Exercise will cause legs to be painful.
Also perhaps it is the shoes and the arch support or lack there of arch support in shoes.
Plantar fasciitis can cause pain up and down your legs.
There is such a thing as trigger points. Perhaps it could be also the gait of how you walk and your posture.
I do have DVT and must wear a compression stocking on the leg. Perhaps you might want to go to the grocery or drug store and start off by getting what they call the diabetic socks or a set of compression stocking with a light support to them. It will help with the circulation but trust me if you have exerted yourself the pain just takes time to go away.

Oh, the leg pain! I live with this daily. Only it isn't with exertion it's any time, and I'm not overweight at all. At first I worried about the same things you did, but I've seen the cardiologist, and the neurologist and they both found nothing. I have no idea what is causing it, but I do know that exercise helps. I see a chiropractor and physio who have given me tons of great stretches for the hips and lower back (they think this is most likely where it's coming from). It hasn't gotten rid of the pain, but it has helped.

Also, another thing that seems to contribute is hydration. It is so much worse when I'm not taking in a proper amount of fluids. Example, today I have the flu  ::)  I can't keep fluids down and my legs are absolutely killing me! Something else to consider if you aren't great with your water intake. Hope you feel better soon!

Leg pain can also happen if you're not on your feet enough.  The circulatory system relies on your muscles contracting to push blood back up to the heart.  That's one of the reasons it's bad to sit all day.  That's not the only thing it uses, but it all works in concert.

I will add that I've been dealing with leg pain and soreness for months now, and the doctors all say I'm "normal."  It's a great comfort to know that others have the same issue, and we can all trace it back to anxiety.  So when I'm having a bad day, I just think, "Hey, it's just anxiety, keep going."  Today I woke up in pain.  Unless I'm sleep-running, it's not from exertion at all.

unfortunately tonight my leg pain is even worse. i wont say pain, it is a terrible discomfort like something is very irritated. sort of squeezing and restless. I made a mistake of jogging for twenty minutes and lifting weights today, thinking I could heal my legs by working them.

but it probably put a great extra pressure on my knee/hamstring that is torturing me now.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

I am just wondering one question. if I had a circulatory problem in my leg ...my leg's pulse would be effected right? because my pulse is good, so can I rule out something being blocked? Im so afraid that my leg could just cut off my blood supply and i could die at any second. had panic attacks that it was imminent an hour ago
